When Kim McGinness moved to Napa, CA she instantly fell in love with the city. As a proud globe trotter, she loved getting to know Napa and learning what truly makes this legendary destination unique.
As a local, Kim naturally became a personal tour guide for friends and family suddenly visiting Napa Valley. As an experienced world traveler, this was the best part of being a Napan. With over ten years in the airline industry, Kim has a passion for exploring new cities and the challenge of showing her well-traveled friends a unique time.
As more guests arrived, Kim’s personal tours focused around the city of Napa. Living in the city, she walked it daily and found amazing tucked away hidden gems. After hosting several guests, she was able to create a personal experience by having great relationships with local establishments around town.
Beyond the Wine
From 3rd generation wine makers, to first time brewers to citizens coming together to attract unique art, Napa is full of dreamers and doers doing great things. And while Napa has a strong focus on creating world class wine, there are many things in the city that accompany this core business.
At the same time Kim moved to Napa, the Rail Arts District (RAD Napa) was launched. Inspired by the Wynwood Walls in Miami and the SODO Track in Seattle, artist, businesses, and city leaders came together to create Napa Valley’s first dedicated public art district. RAD Napa is a two-mile long outdoor art gallery where the Wine Train and the Vine Trail meet.
From murals to sculptures and more, RAD Napa’s installations are part of a growing group of local and internationally recognized artists. The emerging district already features artwork from globally renowned artist like Felipe Pantone and Fintan McGee. And as RAD Napa continues to grow, it will bring in top talent to create a cultural corridor and world-renowned destination.
In addition to the strong public art scene, Napa also has a growing craft beer scene. Turns out, winemakers make great brewers as well. Napa has both local and larger well known brewhouses that are sure to satisfy the most discerning beer drinker.
Creating a Personal Experience
As RAD Napa continued to expand and Kim’s relationships with local establishments grew stronger, her guests enjoyed a unique personal experience unlike any other in the valley. After encouragement from her visitors, she decided to launch Paper Napan Walkabouts.
